What is online education?

In online education, you "attend" class on your computer. The instructor and students communicate via web pages, e-mail, chat rooms, and internet bulletin boards. Instructors have different methods of handling examinations and grading. This varies with the type of course being taken. You may be
required to come to campus to take exams, or other arrangements may be required. Your instructor is always just an e-mail away to handle your questions and concerns.

Online students are not required to be online at specific times or on specific days, except in some cases for exams.

ELAC's online courses meet the same standards as traditional courses, and transfer to four-year institutions in the same way.

You don't have to be very knowledgeable about computers to take online courses, any more than you have to be an automobile mechanic in order to drive a car. You will need access to a computer with an internet connection, a web browser (don't worry, this comes with your computer or will be
given to you by your internet service provider), and an e-mail account. If you can send and receive e-mail, you can take classes online.
