LOS ANGELES, CA – East Los Angeles College (ELAC) and the Mexican Consulate in Los Angeles announced the launch of a program for people interested in opening their own childcare business. This program was developed to help support and aid educational and economic growth within the targeted underserved Mexican and Hispanic origin community.
The courses are offered through the ELAC Noncredit Adult & Continuing Education department and are part of a partnership ELAC has developed over the years with the Mexican Consulate & the Mexican Secretariat of Foreign Affairs (Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores, SRE). Most students taking part in this program use it as a launching platform to pursue further educational and business opportunities.
Students can gain valuable support via the Mexican Consulate as well as our ELAC Campus Support Resources. Courses will be offered in Spanish and will include an English course, with a special focus on the vocabulary used for childcare. The course, which begins on January 16, is completely free and will be offered 100% online.
Classes will be taught for seven weeks with a duration of 100 hours total. People who successfully complete the 100-hour course will receive a valid academic certificate from ELAC and the Mexican Consulate to open their childcare business.
Those interested can register by sending an email with their personal information to communitiesla@sre.gob.mx or by calling 213-351-6815.
ELAC is in its 75th year as an academic institution and continues to provide the Los Angeles area with educational services. This academic year is a celebration of our past and an excitement for our future. To learn more about some of the key alumni from our 75 years of history please click here.
