Dear Colleagues at East Los Angeles College:
I am very pleased to announce that the ELAC President’s Search and Interview Committee has identified finalist candidates for your next permanent president at ELAC. This search process has been extensive resulting in nearly 50 applications, and I am very pleased that we have 5 highly qualified finalists to present to you.
- Dr. Juan Avalos
- Dr. Cynthia Azari
- Dr. Robert Frost
- Dr. Alberto Roman
- Dr. Chris Villa
The District has worked closely with Community College Search Services in conducting this national search. My sincere thanks and appreciation to the members of the ELAC President’s Search and Interview Committee, chaired by Dr. Monte Perez, and comprised of eighteen members appointed to represent a cross-section of stakeholders and constituencies from the entire college community.
On behalf of the committee, I am writing to invite you to participate in virtual Candidate Forums to introduce each finalist to the ELAC community. Due to COVID safety precautions, we have scheduled each candidate to appear via a Zoom webinar presentation that will be aired on Friday, December 4, 2020. Following this initial public airing, each presentation will be available to continue viewing online through Friday, December 11, 2020.
In preparation for these candidate presentations, all interested parties are invited to submit questions for the finalists to address during their presentation. Please limit the number of questions to three per submission and be assured that consideration will be given to include questions from all constituent groups. If you would like your question(s) to be considered, please forward them to Mr. Stan A. Carrizosa Sr. at email@example.com by 4:00 p.m. Monday, November 30, 2020.
Candidate biographies along with the specific times for each presentation will be available at the ELAC website as soon as these details have been finalized.
I will interview finalists the week of December 7, with the formal announcement from our Board of Trustees expected on Wednesday, December 16, 2020.
Thank you all for your continued commitment to the success of our students and all you do each day in pursuit of our values of diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice.
Francisco C. Rodriguez, Ph.D.
