About me: As the recipient of stellar academic counseling when I was a Puente student at Rio Hondo College (1996-97), I have always wanted to give back that passionate and quality guidance in some way, and being an English instructor has permitted me to do just that. Ironically, I absolutely hated reading and writing when I was a child, but I love it now. There is nothing more satisfying than exposing students to texts and issues that they never knew existed or ever permitted to discuss, and ultimately seeing them go from tolerance to understanding concepts outside of their comfort zones. Serving as advisor and mentor to those students who seek my assistance, I believe I am fulfilling the goal I set out to do. Through their experiences in my courses and various interactions with students beyond the classroom, it is always my genuine hope that they become more confident and conscious thinkers, writers, and overall constructive members of their communities.
