East Los Angeles College is dedicated to providing the highest quality of transfer and workforce education courses, along with superior adult education, basic skills, and community service programs. We serve a culturally diverse community in a dynamic urban setting with the purpose of supporting students in achieving associate of arts degrees, general education, skill/certificates, and/or personal development. The college seeks to fulfill the potential of each student through innovative teaching methods, the latest in educational technology, and committed support services.

East Los Angeles College will be guided by the following values to fulfill its mission:
Student Success: We will focus our resources to meet the specific needs of students in ways that help them form their educational and career goals, respect their choices, and achieve their objectives.
Community: We are committed to providing a supportive environment that nurtures and empowers the educational aspirations of our students, staff, faculty, and the residents of the community we serve.
Integrity: We will consistently treat our students, the various communities we serve, the public and private organizations that we partner with, and each other with the highest level of respect, ethical conduct, professionalism and legal compliance.
Shared Governance: We will maintain our commitment to shared governance and work to further the participation of all the college’s constituencies in the governing process.
Collaboration/Partnerships: We will work with local and global organizations, businesses, high schools, other academic institutions, our district and the state to build the programs and services needed for success.
Growth and Development: We will continually examine ourselves and our programs through a variety of lenses, and enthusiastically embrace growth and change, new educational programs, and new technology and methods.
Fiscal Responsibility and Accountability: We will be cost conscious and fair in the allocation and use of our existing resources, and give priority to maintaining the financial viability of the college.
