Students who meet one of the qualifications listed below have demonstrated the ability to benefit from a college education in accordance with applicable Federal Regulations.

1. Received a high school diploma; or
   
2. Passed a high school proficiency exam; or
   
3. Received a certificate of General Education Development (GED); or
   
4. Successfully completed a two-year program (minimum 48 units) that is acceptable for full credit toward a bachelor's degree. This student may be admitted on the basis that he or she has the recognized equivalent of a high school diplomat; or
   
5. Passed an independently administered test that is approved by the Secretary of the Department of Education. Beginning Spring 1991, non-high school graduate students who have been continuously enrolled and have satisfactorily completed at least one(1) unit each semester are exempt from taking the approved test. Students in this category must have a counselor's certification of ability to benefit.
