I have been teaching for over 31 years. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Early Child Development. I started teaching at the East Los Angeles Child Development Center in 1998, and I have also served as a mentor teacher for 9 years.
Our children deserve to have a positive first school experience. As an educator of young children I acknowledge and respect my students. I strive to provide developmentally appropriate activities and have an emergent curriculum. I firmly believe that children best learn through hands-on experiences that provide them with opportunities to develop critical thinking skills, problem solving skills, and the ability to use language to communicate with each other. This is achieved by incorporating Anti-Bias and Peace Education teaching strategies.
It is very uplifting when children and families learn to deal with conflict and frustration in peaceful ways. I treasure these rewarding experiences and believe they are among my greatest success stories.
