EMPLOYMENT SERVICES:
The program provides employment services for veterans and their families. Services are targeted, but not restricted to South Central Los Angeles residents and include job placement assistance. Job placement assistance is provided for low-income female adolescents, age 16 to 18, who are not veterans. There are no geographic restrictions. The agency provides advocacy, education services, employment services, shelter and support services for homeless female veterans and their families.

EMPLOYMENT SERVICES:
The program provides employment services for young adults, age 18 to 25, who are California residents. The program cannot serve people who are on probation or parolees. Services include training and work placement in public service conservation projects. Job readiness skills are also provided. The period of service is one year. There is a ten-day training period; five days without pay, five days earning the starting wage, $8.00/hr. The initial training covers the basics of tradition and policies; community relations; sex relations; health and fitness maintenance; AIDS prevention; drug and alcohol abuse prevention; academic basic skills assessment and individual educational plans development; handling of hand tools; rules for safety at work; first aid; flood and fire mitigation measures; environmental issues and conservation; career planning and job search techniques.

EMPLOYMENT SERVICES:
The department provides employment services for residents of the state of California. Services include job search information, job club services, pre-job guidance and work registration services. Special assistance is provided for professional, technical, managerial and other skilled individuals through self-help job clubs. Special assistance is also available to veterans and women. Veterans are provided services on a priority basis and may be referred to other community agencies. The department promotes equal employment opportunities for women including apprenticeships and work not traditionally performed by women.

EMPLOYMENT SERVICES:
The division provides business and employment services for the City of Los Angeles. It is the administrative agency of the Los Angeles City Workforce Investment Board. It also administers 18 WorkSource Centers. Direct services include employment preparation, job placement services and training programs. The agency provides employment services targeted to homeless veterans in Los Angeles County. Services include a comprehensive job assistance center. Unemployment is a serious challenge for American veterans, particularly those transitioning from or at-risk of becoming homeless. Currently, the unemployment rate for Iraq and Afghanistan veterans is nearly twice the rate of the civilian population. This lack of gainful employment is often a key factor in servicemembers decisions to serve multiple deployments. Our goal at U.S.VETS is to help these unemployed veterans find meaningful work that allows them to become self-sufficient and contributing members of civilian society.

EMPLOYMENT SERVICES:
The agency provides employment services to homeless veterans in Los Angeles County. Services include job clubs and job training formats. Job training formats services include training and certification as a security guard, ServSafe (food handling), and pest control. Additional services include a on-site computer lab, transportation, personal goods (clothing and shoes), and financial assistance for employment related needs.
