Al Cone has proudly been the Athletic Director at East Los Angeles College since 2001. Born in East Los Angeles and raised in the San Fernando Valley, Cone received his Associate's Degree at Los Angeles Valley College and played baseball there for two years, earning all-Metro Conference honors as a freshman and being named the LAVC team co-captain as a sophomore.

Cone then earned his Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology at Cal State Northridge and a Master's Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis on Athletic Administration at Cal State Los Angeles.

He taught Physical Education and Mechanical Drawing at Notre Dame in Sherman Oaks for three years, coached baseball and taught Mechanical Drawing at Archbishop Riordan in San Francisco, was a Dean, the Assistant to the Athletic Director, taught Physical Education and Health at Don Bosco Tech in Rosemead, Calif. while coaching baseball there for four years.

Cone has been at ELAC since the 1989 school year. He began working in the EOP&S office doing recruitment and officially began his tenure as the Head Baseball Coach in the Spring of 1990. He coached baseball until the 1998 season, compiling a 210-159 (.569) record and five straight postseason appearances from 1991 through 1995. In addition, he was named the Southern California Conference Coach of the Year in 1993 after winning the Conference Championship.

He presently teaches Health Education and is an active member of the ELAC violence intervention team and organizes domestic violence and sexual assault awareness training for all Student-Athletes.
