Learn More About Automotive Technology:
Succeed@ELAC
Imagine getting paid for doing something you feel passionate about. Have you always enjoyed figuring out how a motor works? Do you repair your own car? Have you customized your car or restored a rod to primo condition? Get ASE Certified at East Los Angeles College. Completing the Automobile Technology program will allow you to learn all aspects of automotive repair in a comprehensive program that prepares you for ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certification and smog check licensing. Los Angelinos are in love with their cars, making the maintenance and repair industry a high-tech and high-growth field with excellent salaries, a trend that is predicted to continue for decades. Computerization has made todays cars sophisticated, highly technical transportation systems. Our graduates work as service technicians, managers and sales people. Jobs are available in your neighborhood or throughout the world.
Success = Great Teachers
Our faculty members have extensive experience in their field. They are committed to student success. Instructors are ASE Master Certified Technicians who specialize in all areas of automobile technology. They will teach you the skills you need to enter a rewarding career in the automotive industry. In addition, an active college advisory group and industry experts work with the faculty to ensure that curriculum and equipment reflects current industry practices.
Success = High Tech Classrooms
The Automobile Technology program is NATEF Certified in all eight areas of auto repair and is housed in a state-of-the-art facility with a full range of sophisticated auto diagnostic equipment, computers, engine components, smart classrooms, information library and other specialized repair equipment. Ten repair bays equipped with two alignment racks, a chassis dynamometer, and engine machine shop allow students to learn through hands-on use of tools and equipment.
Success = Career Connections
Our comprehensive program includes classes in basic engine fundamentals, engine repair and performance, brakes and traction control systems, air conditioning and heating, automatic and standard transmissions and transaxles, steering, suspension and alignment, and automotive electrical and electronic systems. ELAC automotive technology graduates will have gained one year of work experience towards the two years required to become an ASE Certified Technician. Four fast-track skill-set certificates quickly prepare graduates for specific jobs. Call for details.
Success = University Transfer
An ELAC associates degree and completion of lower division university academic requirements prepare graduates to transfer to the Technology Program at California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA). Students interested in management should consider this option.
Success Costs Less @ ELAC
Tuition is low, less than $400 per semester for a full time student who is a California resident. Plus, we make it easier for working students to attend classes by providing support services such as loans, financial aid, childcare, tutoring, scholarships, health care and more.
Admission is Easy
Anyone 18 years or older qualifies for admission to East Los Angeles College. People under 18 qualify if they graduated from high school or have passed the California High School Proficiency Test. High school students may concurrently enroll at ELAC with the consent of their parents and high school and get an early start on their college education and pay no tuition.
Applications and information to register for day and evening classes are available by calling 323-265-8966.
