An Article Database

Article databases (also called periodical indexes) include the citations of articles in magazines, journals and newspapers.

Some article databases contain abstracts, which are brief summaries of the articles. Sometimes an article database will offer the full text -- that is, the entire content -- of articles as they originally appeared in the periodical.

ProQuest is an article database containing abstracts and full-text of articles from hundreds of periodicals. ELAC has purchased ProQuest and made it accessible from the library web site.
