Searching in The ELAC Catalog
- No need to
use capital letters.
- Use a dollar sign
($) to truncate, i.e. to find words that have a common root
(gun$ to find gun, guns, gunnery, etc; $ology to find anthropology, archaeology,
psychology, etc)
- Use a question mark (?) to substitute for any single letter (wom?n to find both woman and women).
- Usually you'll
leave the
search option as "word(s) or phrase".
- Do not use
punctuation; for example, women's studies should be womens studies.
- If you enter multiple
words, the ELAC catalog will search for items with all the words in their
title or description.
