The Teaching Learning Center is intended to:
1. Provide a drop-in lab for computer and Internet access by instructors
2. Provide opportunity for consultation on distance learning and technical issues
3. Support Professional Development activities, including training
Computers and Internet Access
The TLC lab provides computers for instructors to use on a drop-in basis. The lab has MS Office, Photoshop, Internet connectivity for email and web browsing, laser printer, scanner, video capture, and more.
TLC staff can also provide consultation and desk side assistance for computer use and software issues.
Distance Learning and Web-Supported Teaching Consultation
Wendy Bass, the Online Education Program Coordinator, is available in the TLC at select times during the Fall and Spring semesters to assist instructors with online teaching, web-supported teaching, and plagiarism detection. You can receive drop-in consultation or schedule a training appointment for these topics.

Support for Professional Development Activities, Including Training
The TLC provides a number technology training opportunities for meeting Professional Development/Flex requirements.
You can also come into the lab and view or print your Professional Development/Flex report (FlexView), showing your current balance.
Resources for Microsoft Certification
The District has a pay benefit for those staff members who achieve Microsoft Office certification. To help you prepare for the certification tests, we have practice exams that you can use in our lab and training books for checkout.
Equipment for Checkout
The TLC has various pieces of equipment that an instructor can checkout for a class period. Items include:

Laptop and/or LCD projector

DVD player which can be connected to a television

Boom box (CD and cassette)

Various smaller items: presentation remote controller, webcam, digital camera, external floppy drive, etc.
