ELAC to Hold Commencement Ceremony
MONTEREY PARK – East Los Angeles College will hold its annual commencement ceremony to honor its graduating students June 1 in Weingart Stadium. More than 1,200 students from the 2006-2007 academic year will be presented associate degrees and certificates.
Themed “Building a Brighter Tomorrow,” the commencement will begin at 6 p.m. with graduates marching through an Honor Guard composed of college faculty, administrators and staff.
U.S. Rep. Hilda Solis, D-El Monte, whose 32nd Congressional District includes portions of Monterey Park and East Los Angeles, will be the keynote speaker. Barbara Moore, professor of psychology, will serve as master of ceremonies.
Family and friends who cannot attend the commencement will be able to view the broadcast live at http://media.elac.edu. Replays will be available afterward.
East Los Angeles College is now in its 63rd year of serving the cities and communities of Alhambra, Bell, Bell Gardens, Boyle Heights, Commerce, Cudahy, East Los Angeles, El Sereno, Highland Park, Huntington Park, Lincoln Heights, Maywood, Montebello, Monterey Park, Rosemead, San Gabriel, South Gate and South San Gabriel.
