The summer program helps me get stronger in Math. I was sad to hear I was going to be going to summer school in the summer. But it wasnít bad at all. I meet some new friends and I canít wait to take Math in school and get an A.

My favorite part of class is having my peers with me, helping each other solve some problems that we would struggle on. Also listening to my instructor tell us inspiring stories of his life.
I am worried of all the budget cuts have been made especially in the department of education and the summer programs that children participate in are slowly starting to disappear. The Jaime Escalante foundation offers the best Math program. Unfortunately, in the past two years there has been an increment of students who want to participate, causing hundreds of students to be placed on a waiting list. This year my daughter is in the program but I am not sure if there is going to be space for her next year. Please help us keep the program open to continue preparing and providing the opportunity for students to reach their goals and attend a four-year university.
Info on Engineering Program
For years the Escalante Program has been preparing students to advance to the highest levels of mathematics in middle school and high school. Today the Escalante Program is in partnership with East Los Angeles College Engineering Department thus creating a viable pathway into the engineering field and higher education. We integrate engineering projects in the classroom twice a week, giving the students a chance to learn hands on how math is used towards a career. Our students love it and we look forward to providing it to our students every summer.
Student Testimonials with Engineering
My favorite part of the program is the Engineering portion of it. I learned how gears could come together to make a moving car just with a little help from the bushing, sleeves and more. The Engineering made a difference in my life because I learned how important it was to learn Math.

I loved learning about Engineering it taught me how different flying machines use the air currents to fly. In the future I want to go to MIT for college and study Engineering. I hope I get to learn more next summer!
