The Purpose of the Student Health Center is to promote students' physical, emotional. spiritual and social well being. Programs are designed to help students meet their educational, career and personal goals, by encouraging healthy attitudes and behavior, and fostering students' responsibility for their own health.

Student Health Services of White Memorial Medical center holds in high regard the worth of each culturally diverse student. Our mission is to improve the quality of life and health by providing integrated physical and psychological health services.

 

SERVICES PROVIDED:

The student health fee that you pay when you register entitles you to receive these health services:

  • Acute Illness/Injury
    • Assessment
    • Non-emergency care
    • Basic primary care
    • Resource and refferal network*
  • First Aid
  • Health care counseling, including:
    • Women's health and reproduction
    • Family planning
    • Substance Abuse counseling
    • Nutrition/Healthy lifestyle
    • Health education
    • STD/HIV counseling
    • Communicable disease control
  • Emotional/Behavioral Counseling, including:
    • Stress management
    • Depression/anxiety
    • Relationship issues
    • Self-esteem
    • Eating disorders
    • Substance abuse
    • Domestic violence
    • Crisis management
    • Suicide prevention
  • Preventive health information/screenings, including:
    • GYN and self care
    • Family planning
    • STD/HIV
    • College Healthscreen
    • Blood pressure screening
  • Prescriptions, including:
    • birth control pills, which can be filled at any pharmacy
  • Tests and immunizations
    • Tuberculosis screen (PPD)
    • Measles, mumps and rubella (MMR)
    • Tetnus-Diptheria (TD)

ADDITIONAL SERVICES:

There is an additional fee for these services:

  • Laboratory tests, including:
    • Pap smears
    • HIV tests
    • Sexually transmitted disease (STD) tests
    • Pregnancy tests
    • Urinalysis
    • Glucose tests (diabetes)
    • Cholesterol
  • Immunizations
    • Hepatitis B
  • Physicals (excludes sports physicals
    • Pre-employment physical
    • Physicals required by specific school programs (i.e. nursing)

SERVICES NOT PROVIDED:

  • Emergency care
  • Birth control pills
  • Dental services
  • Ambulance/paramedic treatment
  • Eye exams
  • Hospitalization
  • Suturing/suture removing
  • X-rays
  • Visits to othe rhealth care providers (even if reffered)
  • DIagnostic tests
  • Sports physicals
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • You must be a currently enrolled student at East Los Angels College
  • You must show proof of current enrollment (registration fee receipt or student ID)

 

 

* Referrals to free or low-cost community resources will be provided whenever needed for follow-up care.

The Student Health Center is located in G8-111, adjacent to the Student Activities. See the Campus Map for the exact location. The hours are:

Monday - Thursday
8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Friday
8:00 a.m. - 12 noon.
