The mission of the Learning Assistance Center at East Los Angeles College is to help ELAC students become independent, responsible learners. To this end, we do our best to provide each student with the help he or she needs. the following services are currently available:
Tutorial Services
Tutoring is provided in several ways:
- Walk-In every hour: Math, English, Life Science, Social Science, Child Development, Reading, Writing, Basic Skills, Internet and other college level courses
- Individual
- Small Groups
- By Appointment
- Computer Programs
Tutoring hours are Monday through Thursday from 9:00am to 8:00pm, Friday from 9:00am to 1:00pm and Saturday 10:00am to 2:00pm.
CAI-LAB
The Learning Assistance Center also houses the Computer Assisted Instruction Lab (CAI) which is equipped with computers with Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010 for word-processing and internet access. Printing (black & white and color), scanner and other assistance are available. Available software programs include:
- Plato for various Subjects, including math
- English
- Grammar
- Keyboarding
- Nursing
- Nutrition (Diet Analysis)
- Respiratory Therapy
