New! June 30th, 2006 - The Los Angeles Community College District is mailing new Student Identification numbers to replace existing ID numbers. (See the sample immediately below.) Starting July 24, 2006, East Los Angeles College will open a photo ID station in Student Activities, building G1, and issue new—free—color Student ID cards imprinted with the new Student Identification numbers. More Info...

New federal legislation which goes into effect on January 1, 2007, requires us to give you a new student ID. We cannot use your social security numbers as your student ID. Social security numbers will still be maintained for limited purposes required by state and federal regulations; such as financial aid, research, assessment, and transcripts.

The new student ID is a randomly-generated number with the prefix of “88”. It will be used to identify students transacting business with the college. Students will not be identified by their social security numbers on rosters and most computer screens.

If you would like more information, please view the frequently asked questions below, or contact the campus ombudsman at ombuds@elac.edu.
