Respiratory Therapy Application Multi-Criteria Information

This page can be used only as a general guideline for how the RT Department will review your application and uploaded forms for the Multi-Criteria grading system. This again is only general information and doesn't explain how we will grade every single detail.

  • Your Resume.
  • Your Personal Statement.

Multi-Criteria Grading System

The criteria the Respiratory Therapy Department will be using to provide automatic entry or destined an application for lottery is as follows:

  1. Academic Degrees received (Ex: AA/AS/BA/BS or higher from a regional accredited college.
  2. Grades for the following prerequisites: RESP TH 101, HTHTEK 133, ANATOMY 001, PHYSIOLOGY 001 (or BIO 20), CHEM 051 or 065, MATH 227, 245 or higher, COMM 101.
  3. Cumulative GPA in all Coursework for ALL Colleges attended.
  4. Resume Submitted.
  5. Recent Work or Volunteer experience with direct human patient care within the past 5-years.
    1. Any Healthcare work experience as a licensed practitioner.
    2. Any Healthcare work experience that does not require a license.
  6. Any Life Experience or Special Circumstances Essay that you have experienced that have made you want to be in the health care field. This information can be taken from your personal statement or from the questionnaire within the application.
  7. Veteran Status. Provide your DD214 Form.

The maximum number of points that can be earned is 55 points. Each section has a specific maximum number of points that can be gained. If you don't have some of these items, it's still okay to apply if the pre-requisites and coursework needed are completed prior to applying to the program.

The higher the grade obtained within this multi-criteria form, the higher the chances are for the student to be accepted automatically. The lower the grade, the higher the chances are for them to go to a blind lottery. As mentioned, 50% of the applicants will be automatically selected to enter the RT Program under a conditional status while the remaining 50% will be going to a blind lottery.
