Yes, you may invite as many guests as you would like. Seating is available on a first-come first-serve basis and is limited to stadium capacity. We cannot guarantee the availability of seats.

Your name will appear as we have it in the Student Information System. If you have legally changed your name and would like to update your records, please contact Admissions & Records directly at:

We recommend speaking to the Counseling Department to verify if you are ready to submit a Graduation Petition for Spring 2022. Students can reach the Counseling Department by using the following link: https://www.elac.edu/ Student-Services/Academic-Counseling/Connect-With-a-Counselor.

Once your Graduation Petition has been submitted, the next step is to visit the ELAC Graduation webpage for the most up to date information on the graduation ceremony (https://www.elac.edu/Student-Services/Graduation).

Stop by the Student Activities Office (F5-212) to pick up your dean’s/president’s honor cord. Please bring a copy of your unofficial transcripts to show proof.

If you need proof of your degree/certificate now and you know that your Graduation Petition has been processed, you can view and print your unofficial transcript via the student portal. Unofficial Transcripts will include any degrees that have been awarded. If you need official transcripts, please refer to link below for steps on requesting an official transcript: https://www.elac.edu/Student-Services/Admissions/Enrollment-Verification-Transcript-Request.

If you would like to audition for student speaker, please prepare a three-minute original speech based on this year’s graduation theme ("I took the chance to believe in myself and seized the opportunity to succeed."). Also, please bring five copies of your speech to distribute to the committee.

If you would like to submit a theme/quote for graduation, please go to https://forms.office.com/r/hnRTscXveQ. Deadline for theme submissions is March 23, 2022.

There is limited accessible seating. Please make sure to attend early as this seating fills up fairly quickly. Accessible seating is located on the south side of the stadium accessible through gates 4-7. If you would like to request special accommodations, please contact the DSP&S Office directly at (323) 265-8787 or dsps@elac.edu. Please make your request for special accommodations by Monday, June 6th, 2022.

You will be receiving text updates from ELAC. If you do not wish to receive text updates, feel free to opt-out when you receive the first text.

Rehearsal 

• 10:00am - Line up behind E7.

• Rehearsal is strongly recommended for all graduates.

• You do not need to wear your regalia during rehearsal.

• Rehearsal lasts about an hour and a half.

• Medals will only be handed out during rehearsal. 


Name Card Distribution 

• 3:00pm - Line up in the E3 Quad. 

• If your name is not in the program, you will not have a pre-printed card. Instead, you will be given a blank card to complete on location. 

• After picking up your name card, start forming two straight lines behind the E7 building. There is no alphabetical order so stand behind the last person in line and your name will be read off according to where you are in the line. 


Ceremony

• 5:00pm - Follow directions from Marshalls to Weingart stadium.


Graduation Regalia 

• All graduates must wear their cap and gown. The ELAC Bookstore closes at 7:15 p.m. for those who need to purchase graduation regalia. 

  • Medals 

    • 10:00a.m. - Medals will only be handed out during rehearsal. 

  • Cap Decoration 

    • If you would like to decorate your cap, you can do so. 

  • Shoes 

    • Wear comfortable shoes. No stilettos! Please wear either wedges or shoes with a wide heel to avoid falling down. 

  • Tassel Placement 

    • Place your tassel on the right side then listen for instructions from President Roman. Prior to going up and walking across the stage, he will ask all graduates to switch tassels to the left. 

 

Guests Admission to the Ceremony 

• All your guests are welcome to attend. Invite as many friends and family members as you would like. No tickets are required. 

• Your guests should refrain from using any air horns, noise makers, or whistles when your name is called. We would like for guests to hear everyone’s name. 

• Balloons are allowed. If any of your guests are bringing balloons, please let them know they will need to sit at the top of the bleachers to not block anyone’s view. 
 

Parking 

• Parking is free. All parking lots will be available to graduates and guests.
 

Live Broadcast 

• The ceremony will be videotaped for a live broadcast on the World Wide Web. By attending or participating in this event, you are giving your consent to be videotaped and you agree to allow the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD)/ East Los Angeles College (ELAC) and other educational institutions to use your likeness in advertisements and promotions that support education without change or reservation. 
 

Graduates Ceremony Protocol 

• We will be following LACCD Covid Protocols. 

• Only graduating candidates are permitted in the graduates’ seating area, on stage during the diploma presentation, and in the academic procession. If you have small children, please make arrangements for childcare. 

• Service dogs are permitted on stage. However, emotional support animals will not be allowed on stage with you.

Degree/Certificates are mailed out 16 weeks after final grades have been posted at the conclusion of the spring (timeframe subject to change).
