Zoom Waiting Room and Passcode Requirements


Starting July 19th, Zoom (on Canvas) will require that all meetings have a Passcode or a Waiting Room enabled.

FAQ:

  1. What if I don’t have a Waiting Room or Passcode enabled by July 19?
    If neither is enabled, Zoom will enable a Waiting Room for your meetings.
  2. How will this affect my calendar invitations when scheduling meetings?
    If you already have a Passcode or Waiting Room on, there will be no change to how you schedule meetings.

**If Passcodes are added, calendar invites for any existing meeting will need to be resent to include the Passcode.**
New meetings will have the Passcode embedded in the meeting link automatically.

Resolving Zoom Issues

The Zoom migration has resulted in a couple of situations where the USER can take some steps to resolve the situations outlined below.

The new Zoom link is in Canvas and the old ConferZoom and TechConnectSSO links are gone. You can find the new Zoom link at the bottom of your Canvas course menu.

You can move it higher by clicking on the course Settings link -> clicking on the Navigation tab -> and dragging the Zoom link higher in the course menu. Then SAVE changes.
