Medical Assistant Programs
Message from the Chairperson:
The Medical Assistant (MA) program is approximately an 11-month program, structured for MA students to complete in just under a year. The program is rigorous with MA courses that are all short-term 8-week courses, which is why MA students cannot enroll in classes outside the MA Program while completing the program. You must first be officially accepted into the MA Program before you can start registering for MA Program courses.
The announcement for the Spring 2026 MA Program Cohort online application open enrollment will be available on the Canvas homepage with a QB Code and URL Link for you to apply online on November 15, 2025.
There are no prerequisites to apply for the program. The MA Program does have an Educational Pathway to complete your AS Degree in Medical Assistant; however, GEs and the 2 other courses must be done after completing the MA Program plan of study (if you choose to complete your AS Degree).
There are 2 courses you can register for in the meantime you are waiting to apply. The 2 courses are:
- HTHTEK 133: Medical Terminology.
- ALD HTH 057: Computers in Health Occupations.
Please DO NOT register for any of the other MA Program HLTHOCC courses until you are accepted into the MA Program or you will be dropped from the class(es). Lastly, please be sure to apply early for the MA Program, starting November 15, 2025. We can ONLY accept 75 students per cohort and spots fill up fast.
Note: There will be two application openings per year. The first application period will start every November 15th and end around December 20th. The second application period will start on April 15th and end around May 20th. If you plan on applying, you will need to attend a MANDATORY Zoom Orientation which will occur a week or two before the application start dates. We will be having a morning and afternoon orientation, it will be up to the student which zoom session they will want to attend. Failure to attend an orientation session will cause your application to be discarded.
